Ardestan. Tomb of Amir ovais This carved alabaster tomb marks the grave of Amir Ovais, a soldier and administerator in the early Safavid government, who was killed and buried on the battlefield in A.D. 1515. Shah Esmail constructed a memorial over the remains of Amir Ovais, but the building collapsed long ago, leaving the tombstone exposed on a desert knill behind Ardestan. |
