   Chronology of Events Leading to
   the Iraqi-Imposed War

In the aftermath of the ministerial conference of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) held in Vienna from the 4 to 6 March 1975, a joint declaration was issued by Iran and Iraq over the settlement of mutual differences. The two countries undertook to:
1. Demarcate their land borders based on the 1913 Constantinople Protocol and the minutes of  the meetings of the Demarcation Commission in 1914.
2. Demarcate their marine borders based on the thawing line
3. Establish mutual security and trust alongside their
common borders and undertake to exercise strict and effective supervision of their sides of the  borders, in order to curb cross-border incursions and acts of sabotage.
4. Affirm that the above points are the indisputable outlines of a solution, and violation of any of  the above points will mean the violation of the (Mutual) Accord.
In a series of meetings on the 12 an 13 June 1975 in the presence of the Algerian foreign minister, the foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq signed documents over the demarcation of their land and marine borders.
